What We Do
The Eastern Habitat Joint Venture’s (EHJV) conservation programs focus on planning, implementation and evaluation in four key areas:
Using sound science and a partnership approach, EHJV partners work at the local and regional landscape level to address issues related to North American Waterfowl Management Plan (NAWMP) target areas and migratory bird conservation goals. In addition, EHJV partners are working to consider and incorporate conservation planning for birds beyond waterfowl – shorebird, landbird and waterbird population monitoring and habitat conservation programs will also be developed under the North American Bird Conservation Initiative (NABCI). All EHJV conservation programs contribute to the goals of the national and continental NAWMP and NABCI programs which to date have invested over 4 billion dollars to conserve 6.5 million hectares of North American migratory bird wetland and associated upland habitat continentally.
