Other Bird Conservation

Least Bittern/©Ducks Unlimited Canada

Like many North American Waterfowl Management Plan joint ventures, the EHJV is expanding its mandate beyond waterfowl conservation to include other bird species. The goal of this expansion is to address the recovery of species at risk and migratory birds identified in recovery strategies or Bird Conservation Region strategies. The approach has its challenges, including sourcing funding and developing complementary strategies that meet the needs of each province. Various initiatives and pilot projects are underway throughout the EHJV target areas to advance this work.
