Canadian organizations (including all levels of governments, non-profits, and more) can apply for North American Wetlands Conservation Act (NAWCA) grants administered by the US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) for habitat securement, restoration, and/or enhancement:

“NAWCA grants in Canada are competitive, matching grants that support public-private partnerships carrying out projects in Canada that involve long-term protection through real property interests, restoration, and/or enhancement of wetlands and associated uplands habitats for the benefit of all wetlands-associated migratory birds.”

Proposals are submitted to the USFWS as described in the link above. All proposals must include matching funds from US sources, such as US non-profits (e.g. Ducks Unlimited Inc., Delta Waterfowl) or foundations. The Eastern Habitat Joint Venture Management Board has been provided the opportunity to review and provide comments on NAWCA Canada proposals that fall within the EHJV area.
